AI Implementation

Daily AI Newsletter

Self-initiated project

Daily AI Newsletter reads 14 news sources every morning and turns them into one short email. It keeps only the last 24 hours, removes repeated stories, and has an AI model pick the key events, explain why each one matters and list the top takeaways. The brief arrives at 6:00 AM India time, grouped by topic, with links that always point to the original articles. It runs on its own every day, uses free AI models, and raises an email alert if a run fails.

THE PROBLEM

Keeping up with AI and automation news means checking many websites every day. The same story is repeated across publishers, much of it is not relevant, and on a busy day the reading is skipped altogether.

THE SOLUTION

An n8n workflow that runs by itself every morning. It reads 14 RSS sources, keeps the last 24 hours, removes duplicates and sends the list to an AI model through OpenRouter. The AI picks the key events and takeaways, and the workflow builds an HTML email and sends it through Gmail. Every path has an ending: a quiet day sends a short notice, an AI failure still delivers the raw headlines, and a failed run triggers an alert email.

HOW IT WORKS
01

Schedule

The workflow starts by itself every day at 6:00 AM India time.

02

Collect

It reads 14 RSS sources: news searches, technology publications and AI company blogs. A source that fails is skipped and the rest carry on.

03

Filter

Only the last 24 hours are kept, duplicates are removed and the 60 newest articles go forward. On a day with nothing new, a short notice is sent instead.

04

Curate

An AI model picks up to 10 key events and 3 takeaways, with a summary and why each one matters. Backup models take over if the first is unavailable.

05

Deliver

The brief is built as an HTML email grouped by topic and sent through Gmail. Links are taken from the original feeds, never from the AI.

06

Monitor

If a scheduled run fails, a separate workflow emails an alert naming the failed step, with a link to the run.

BUSINESS VALUE
Time saved every day: 14 sources are read, filtered and summarised before the working day starts Only what matters: up to 10 key events and 3 takeaways, each with a line on why it matters Links you can trust: every link comes from the original source, never from the AI No AI running cost: the workflow uses free models, with backups if one is unavailable Dependable: a failed source is skipped, an AI failure still delivers the headlines, and a failed run raises an alert Reusable: change the source list and the same workflow covers another topic or industry
RESULTS
14 RSS sources read every day
~25 s Per daily run, end to end
$0 AI model cost, using free models

Run time measured on the scheduled runs of 27 and 28 September 2026 (23 to 26 seconds each).
